Inspired by the rich colors of the Southern Arizona desert, vintage Tonala Mexican pottery, and an adorable pet bunny named Mr. Tilly, artist Debbie Gallerani has created the most lovable bunch of jackrabbits this side of the Rio Grande.
Each rabbit sculpture begins with a wire and paper maché body that is carefully formed by hand. A top layer of air-dry stone clay is added, then every rabbit is individually sculpted and hand-painted, giving each one its own clever personality.
Tucked inside each sculpture is a small handful of Arizona rocks so every rabbit always carries a little piece of home with it. The final touch is a gentle kiss on the nose before these charming little characters hop off to their new homes with collectors across the country.
